Hair growth-promoting properties of sodium thiocyanate

In the study summarized below, it was shown that sodium thiocyanate significantly promoted hair growth.

In the study, sodium thiocyanate was applied to albino guinea pigs (whose hair growth cycle is very similar to the human hair growth cycle).

Hair density increased by 6-38% over the course of the study, length growth was promoted by 2-14% and the follicular cycle phases in the anagen hair area were also increased by 11-39%.

These findings were obtained by carrying out a trichogram and taking samples, among other things.

In the study, it was observed that the application of sodium thiocyanate significantly increased the proportion of hair in the anagen phase.

Conclusion

The hair growth-promoting effect of sodium thiocyanate has not only been observed in albino guinea pigs and sheep, but also in humans. Sodium thiocyanate has been used successfully for several years as an active ingredient in the treatment of hair loss symptoms.
