Castor oil

Castor oil is obtained from the seeds of the so-called “miracle tree” (Ricinus communis). It supports the natural skin barrier as its structure allows it to penetrate deep into the stratum corneum of the skin. It also contains antioxidant vitamin E and has an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect. The fatty acids it contains, including the special ricinoleic acid (a C18 fatty acid that has a hydroxyl group at C-12 and a double bond at C-9), make the skin feel smooth and supple.
